About the Fishing and the Lakes

‍Hurst Farm, situated near Bridgnorth, Shropshire, offers two coarse fishing lakes and one fly fishing lake. The history of the lakes dates back some four hundred years when the brook and valley were dammed to provide a head of water to drive a water wheel on the site of an iron blast furnace.

‍More information about the history of Hurst Farm and the lakes is here.

‍Many of the pegs are stoned and flat. Five pegs are available for wheelchair users, with the car park just metres away. There are a few double pegs around the pools as well. Perfect for the social anglers or when you need to be on hand to help and advice.

‍Staying in our cottages? Coarse fishing is included in the cost if you are staying in one of our cottages, and the fly fishing is free but subject to a fair usage policy. For the disabled / less abled anglers, we are more than happy to reserve an accessible peg.

‍Fly Fishing at the Trout Lake

‍Coarse Fishing not your thing? Then why not try our 3-acre Trout Lake. This large water offers easy casting. A large stock of fish and an abundance of natural food that keep the fish rising to the fly!

‍Hurst Farm’s game lake has been designed with the fly fisherman's requirements as a priority. This fly fishing lake offers excellent fishing for anglers of all levels.

‍The Trout Lake is a natural spring-fed lake, stocked with hard-fighting Rainbow Trout which are also reared in Shropshire. Many mature trees grow by the lakes, giving an abundance of natural fly life.

‍There are two hard standing car parks close to the waters. Toilets onsite between the Middle lake and Furnace lake. Then there is an anglers’ pavilion and further toilets situated next to the trout lake. Picnic facilities are available and quiet family fishing days out are actively encouraged.
